Dave’s Monday Blast – September 22, 2025
You old time Men of INTENTION will remember some curriculum we shared several times at Auburn Grace from Authentic Manhood. We became friends with one of the authors, Tierece Green, as he spoke at a Men in HD conference several years ago. On the heals of that conference, we had him circle back to Auburn Grace for a weekend event. He continues to write a weekly blog and has a compelling ministry in the Houston area. Recently, I was reading his weekly and I was encouraged by this Scripture from John 16:33: “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” I suspect that Jesus had His church today in mind when he shared this word with His followers.
You know the feeling when you finally come up for air…only to get hit by another wave? It’s the car breaking down the same week the bills stack up. It’s the unexpected health scare right after a relationship falls apart. You get the drift! Before long, you find yourself wondering, “Why can’t I catch a break?”
Our friend writes: “In those moments discouragement creeps in like a slow fog. But in those moments you start to question your strength. Maybe even God’s goodness.” I lived in Pismo Beach many years as a young man and we referred to the daily in and out of the ocean fog as the “Fog Monster”; always predicable, somewhat ominous, and at times depressing; a bit like life can be.
My friends, when life feels like it’s unraveling, it doesn’t mean God has left the room. Sometimes it means He’s doing His deepest work…building character, teaching trust. It’s in the chaos that faith becomes more than a belief, it becomes a lifeline. So if you are in a season where the hits keep coming, hear this: You are not forgotten! You are not abandoned! You are being formed! Just like the Pismo Fog rolling in like clock work…it eventually always rolled out. Whatever circumstances you are currently wrestling with, This too shall pass because our God is predictably faithful!
