Dave’s Monday Blast – May 18, 2015
As we continue this week with our synopsis of the exceptional teaching from our Men’s Retreat I am reminded of the Apostle Paul’s commitment to be a “Sweet Smelling Aroma to his God.” This was to be his leadership legacy. We ended our discussion last week with this challenge, “what is your aroma?”
As Paul prepared Timothy for the Hand-Off, he was most concerned that Timothy would be equipped to continue his God honoring work. We read this admonition to Timothy in (2 Timothy 4:6 – 8) where Paul outlines his simple Mantra of Leadership. This wisdom comes from one INTENTIONAL Christ – follower to another. Here it is:
No Reserve = Give it all, leave nothing on the field of battle. (vs. 6 – 7)
No Retreat = Never back down from the faith and the Truth. (v. 7)
No Regret = It was worth any and every sacrifice. (v. 8)
We read this same descriptor of another INTENTIONAL man in ( Genesis 25: 7 & 8) as Abraham gathers the people of Israel together preparing them for the passing of his leadership mantle.
These men accomplished all that God had placed before them to do. They were created in Christ Jesus for “Good Works” (Ephesians 2:10) and Scripture affirms they were faithful to do them to the end of their days. That is our challenge Men of Intention…to be faithful to what the Lord has created for us to do from the very beginning. Let it be said of each of us upon our passing that we left a legacy of discipleship. Who will follow after Christ because of our testimony
