Dave’s Monday Blast – February 2, 2026

For over ten years I have been referring to all of you as Men of Intention! I have often referenced a particular Old Testament Scripture (1 Chronicles 12:32 – The Tribe of Issachar) as a foundation for every healthy church body; a reminder that every “generation” needs INTENTIONAL Men of God who truly understand the days in which they live AND know what to do with that understanding. As I sit down to write this morning I am reminded of the following New Testament admonition (Ephesians 5:15 – 16) “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, because the days are evil.” The Apostle Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit was instructing us that the time God gives us on this earth is eternally important.

I have ended my weekly chats with you by using this simple admonition: “Make it a good one…you know that you can not get one moment of today back!” Of course in the big picture, we will never get back the moments, the days, or years that we spend frivolously pursuing the things of the world. The author of a recent First 15 daily devotional writes: “We’ll never get back the time spent outside of God’s purposes of receiving and giving love. Our time here is too limited and too important to spend on burdens, stresses, sin, and worldly pursuits. If we are going to make the most of this life, we must learn to center our time around the eternal value of meeting with God. The great thing about the nature of time is that it is completely ours to do with what we will.”

James 4:13 – 15 says: “Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’, yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” So…considering the ways in which we spend our time is one of the best ways to assess the posture of our hearts. I recently read: “If we spend all our time working for and thinking about the things of the world, we can know that we have not yet come into a right revelation of God’s purpose for us.” It begs the question…what is God’s purpose for us?

Next week I want to share a great perspective on these truths from Dr. Jeff Meyers, President of Summit Ministries in Colorado Springs. Some of you will remember Dr. Jeff as a good friend of Auburn Grace. We were privileged to have hosted two connections with him in years past.
