Dave’s Monday Blast – October 27, 2025

I have been reading through the life of Joseph (Genesis Joseph) the last few weeks. Although the lessons that can and should be learned and lived, are numerous, it has made me ponder what I will leave behind when my days on earth are over. To that point, I know for a fact that this verse from 2 Corinthians 4:7 reflects my heart on this matter: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.”

Authentic Manhood ministries comments: “All stories contain brokenness, parts of that hurt us, parts that we feel ashamed of, parts that we hope people never discover. And we trick ourselves into believing that we are the only ones broken in this particular way. But we are all broken. And every man’s story is part of a greater narrative, one that begins in the Garden of Eden and includes sin and death, but also healing and redemption.”

As I walk through the life of Joseph these words ring very true as I can identify with parts of his journey through life. I can look over the course of my life and see not just the way God has and is working in my life, but the way He is working in the world. When we realize we are part of a bigger picture, it gives us perspective on our own life and legacy. It reminds us we’re not alone in our brokenness and redemption stories.

It is very important to share your own stories of brokenness and redemption because it disarms shame, connects us more deeply to one another, and bears witness to God’s redemptive power. I encourage you to spend some quality time working through Genesis 38 – the end of the book. It is a powerful account of brokenness caused by sin and redemption received because of grace, humility, love, and mercy. These accounts are personal, familial, cultural, and geographically diverse and we observe just what God is up to on every level.

Consider: How can you share your own stories of brokenness and redemption that reflect God’s glory and encourage someone else in their personal transformative walk through life? Essentially, I am referring to your faith story. I am really enjoying listening to the faith story of Genesis Joseph! The legacy left behind by an INTENTIONAL man of God is to be an Image Bearer of Christ.
