Dave’s Monday Blast – December 1, 2014
I look forward to the Thanksgiving – Christmas Season with great expectation. It fills me with a sense of joy, gratitude and satisfaction. God is good all the time, but I recognize His goodness, His Love for me with increased clarity during this wonderful time of the year.
The truth is though…many people find this very season to be depressing. Some of the very things that bring me such joy during this time of year do not produce the same sense of joy, gratitude or satisfaction in others. The emotions of the season work both directions.
I enjoy reading anything Max Lucado writes because he helps me see individuals and circumstances through God’s eyes. In his book “Before Amen”, Max asks this question: Are you waiting for Jesus to heal you? Heal you from abandonment, addiction, anger, disappointment, discouragement, fear, frustration and loss. Take hope from Jesus’ response to the blind man in Mark 10:45-47: “Have mercy on us, O Lord!” the blind man cried. Everyone else kept going, but Jesus froze. Something caught His attention. Interrupted His journey. Raising His hand to stop the throng that was following Him like a rock star, lifting His finger for them to be quiet. What was it? What did Jesus hear?
