The changes on the world stage over just the last couple of years have been dramatic in every conceivable way. Or is it just our awareness of the world has changed, especially here at home? I know that all of us are much more aware of the truth (Ephesians 6:12).
The following stats of course are a reflection of why the world continues its decline toward destruction:
a. Belief in the existence of God (any god), in the US has fallen to 81 percent, a historic low.
b. Leading up to Roe v. Wade’s overturning a couple weeks ago, abortions increased in America for the first time in thirty years (mostly due to the “FDA Approved” Abortion Pill which accounts for more than 50% of all abortions).
c. The “State of the Bible” report from the American Bible Society shows that Scripture engagement in the US is at a historic low…just 19% of adults regularly read the Word.
Pastor Jim Denison comments: “In my biblical studies of the times that God has granted His people renewal and restoration, it was always preceded by desperation.” God’s people, as recorded in 2 Chronicles 7:14, were lost, wandering, and constantly complaining. They realized the errors of their ways and, in their desperation, turned back to God. He hears from heaven and forgives their sin and heals their land…!
My question to you this day my brothers is simply this: Are WE desperate yet? Do we truly believe that God can make a difference, not just in our lives and the lives of our friends, families, and coworkers, but in the lives of politicians? Of celebrities? Of CEOs? Of all those who move the cultural needle? Of the culture of death and unbelief that inhabits the souls of Americans?
Men of INTENTION say:
We BELIEVE God can!
We BELIEVE He desires to!
We BELIEVE that we serve a much bigger God whose influence far exceeds the combined influence of all who move the cultural needle, indeed more influential than the god of this world.
We know that our nation is facing so many tough issues right now:
- A looming recession
- Increasing gas prices
- Huge battles between our 3 branches of government
- Continued religious liberty issues
- The advance of LGBTQ (there are over 500 identified Q’s)
- Increase in partisan divides over so many issues
- And the list goes on and on…
But…we keep the faith because we trust in the One who is over all, and even as the darkness seems to grow day by day, God uses us to change our culture and indeed the very world. That’s why Jesus called us the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:14).
