Dave’s Monday Blast – September 28, 2020
Just wrapping up our discussion from the last two weeks about INTENTIONALLY “Living in the Presence of God.” Last week we shared that King David and Jehoshaphat and the Prophet Isaiah and Nehemiah demonstrated that an intimate relationship with their Heavenly Father provided such powerful and personal connections, that it literally changed their lives.
This week I want to share two remaining thoughts on this idea of Thriving in Challenging Times:
3. People thrive when leaders thrive. So it begs the question…how do leaders thrive?
- Don’t go to Moab (Ruth 1:1) We can only survive the famine of being away from His presence and His word by remaining close to Him. Moving away from Him has dangerous consequences.
- Make time to listen to God during your time of prayer (Matthew 26:39 – 42). Jesus spent about one minute in prayer and 59 minutes listening to God.
- Purpose to know God for yourself (Jeremiah 9:23 – 24). “Boast in the knowledge of and understanding of God.” Know that He is loving and kind, just and righteous.
- Examine all things carefully and hold fast to that which is true (1 Thessalonians 5:17 – 21). This can only be done under that inspiration of the Spirit of God. Do not quench the Spirit.
4. Leaders thrive because they understand the days in which they live (1 Chronicles 12:32). Of course this is the mission statement verse for Men of Intention. So it begs the question…how do leaders learn to understand their times?
Here is the simple answer: “He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the Children of Israel” (Psalm 103:7). We receive all that we need from the Lord God…not from the wisdom of man. Do you spend more time listening to men or to God? If you want to Thrive in Challenging Times you must spend time abiding in His presence.
