Dave’s Monday Blast – October 10, 2022

It is the Truth of who Jesus is (John 1:1; John 14:6; etc.) that begins the process of Transforming our lives (2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 12:1 & 2) into His image. To that transforming truth, we are to Testify in response to the ascension mandate to be disciple-makers (Matthew 28:18).

Recently, Bayside founding pastor, Ray Johnston, shared the following process of transformation in his Thriving Leadership Blog. This process originates from leadership guru John Maxwell; Maxwell says that transformation comes in six stages:

1. When you change your thinking, you change your beliefs
2. When you change your beliefs, you change your expectations
3. When you change your expectations, you change your attitude
4. When you change your attitude, you change your behavior
5. When you change your behavior, you change your performance
6. When you change your performance, you change your life!

Pastor Ray inquires: “In which of the six stages do you find yourself?” I would add: “Are you stuck in a particular stage of transformation?

This process reminded me of 2 Peter 1:5 – 10 where the Apostle Peter describes the process of a transforming life beginning with faith and ending with a life IN CHRIST!

1.v. 5 “Now for this reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith, supply moral excellence,
2. and in your moral excellence, knowledge;
3. v. 6 and in your knowledge, self -control,
4. and in your self-control, perseverance,
5. and in your perseverance, godliness
6. v. 7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness,
7. and in your brotherly kindness, Christian love.”
v. 10 is the outcome:  “Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble.”

In case you missed Pastor Phil’s September 25th message, I encourage you to watch it on our YouTube channel as he breaks down this very discussion in the most practical ways.
