Dave’s Monday Blast – November 4, 2019
As soon as we turn the corner into November my mind loves to ponder the goodness and faithfulness of God. Like you, I begin to recall His blessings and I rejoice in His promises. The Bible speaks definitively on why we can confidently trust in God’s promises. This is important simply because we can not see His blessings, nor possess a heart of Thanksgiving, unless we can confidently take Him at His Word.
I greatly admire the work of the apologetic organization Christian Ministries International. Their contributors do an incredible job of clearly articulating a Christian Worldview on a myriad of topics. Their “Fast Facts” on why we can confidently trust in God’s Promises is worth your time today:
One of the great truths of our great God is His unchanging nature. While other gods are capricious and changeable, the true God of the universe, the God of Scripture, is unchanging and therefore…ultimately trust worthy.
1. In Malachi 3:6 God Himself declares, “I the Lord do not change.”
2. In Numbers 23:19 we are told, “God is not a man that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.”
3. In James 1:17, we are assured that God “does not change like shifting shadows.”
What these biblical truths mean for us is that God’s word is reliable. We can trust His promises. We have reason to hope in His faithfulness. So the next time you are facing doubt, discouragement, a trial in life, or simply can not find a reason to be thankful, remember, trust in the Lord because what He says, He will do. He always has and He always will.
