Dave’s Monday Blast – November 22, 2021
Well it is almost Thanksgiving and we are once again presented with another opportunity to express our gratitude to the One from whom all blessings flow (Love that familiar Doxology). We discover in Psalm 100 the Power of Worship when directed to our Heavenly Father and how it relates to gratitude. Let’s break it down:
1. (V. 1) Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth.
2. (V. 2) Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.
3. (V. 3) Know that the LORD is God; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
4. (V. 4) Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to the LORD and praise His name.
5. (V. 5) For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.
What do we learn from this passage?
1. When you worship, all the focus is upon Him. Not upon us.
2. When you worship, a spirit of gratitude is produced. The healthiest of human emotions is gratitude.
3. When you worship, your difficult circumstances lose their power. In light of who He is.
4. When you worship in community, you are encouraged to love and participate in good deeds to others. We are self-serving when living in isolation.
5. When you worship, you better understand the faithfulness and love of God. Intimate relationship consequence.
Some Questions for you to consider this week specific to this passage:
1.To whom are we to be attentive and what is the result?
2. What is God’s command to us found in 1 Thessalonians 5:16 – 18?
3. Who is the source of our strength? How can this truth result in a sense of gratitude?
4. How can being obedient to these words from the Lord lead to a place of gratitude?
5. How does worship change our attitude to circumstances?
