Dave’s Monday Blast – May 22, 2023
A couple weeks ago many gathered in our Worship Center for National Day of Prayer. Before we dove into our time of corporate prayer, Pastor John McIntosh encouraged us to spend a few moments in private conversation with the Lord. The goal of course, was to clear the path into His presence, so that we are positioned to bring our petitions before Him. Men of INTENTION know that their pathway to Him must be unencumbered with sin.
There are times when the call for Christians to pray may be pointless, i.e. the act falls upon deaf ears! The Bible tells us that there are times when God ignores our pleas. There are times when God does not hear our petitions. I thank Pastor John for sharing the following reasons why God ignores or does not hear the prayers of His children: (Please spend some time walking through these passages)
1. I cling to my sinful habits. (Isaiah 59:2 & Micah 3:4)
2. I withhold forgiveness. (Mark 11:25 & 1 Peter 3:7)
3. I turn a cold heart toward people in need through no fault of their own. (Proverbs 21:13)
4. I pray with a self-serving agenda. (James 4:3)
5. I pray believing God isn’t going to do anything. (James 1:6 – 8).
The act of praying is one thing.
Taking the time to pray is another thing.
Being properly positioned to pray must be the first thing.
