Dave’s Monday Blast – June 9, 2025
Ten years ago professor JP Moreland (from my Alma Mater Biola University) wrote a book entitled “Loving God with all your Mind”. My biggest take away from this important book was that if you are not In Christ you can not think God’s thoughts. Without the Spirit of God residing within you can not understand truth. Francis Schaffer distinguished between truth (what man thinks or feels is right) and true Truth (what God says is true and right ) by commenting: No God – No Truth.
I know that this is what accounts for the HUGE chasm that exists in our nation in understanding and believing the simplest truths. It accounts for why we debate definitions for simple words like man and woman. It accounts for the madness of DEI, pronouns, moral equivalents, etc. x 100. It seems the world has gone mad.
The truth though is as simple as “If you know Him you know what is truth, because He is Truth (John 14:6). Followers of Christ are not superior to those who do not know Him, or who reject Him. We are simply able to think; we use our minds to acknowledge and to love Him.
We are living in the “Days of Noah” where wrong is right and right is wrong. Judges 21:25 says: “In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” Those still outside the Family of God are doing what is right in their own eyes. Their king is not King Jesus. Instead of doing what is right in the eyes of THE KING, according to His law, they are acting according to their preferences. The result is chaos, evil practices, idol worship, and ultimately judgement from God.
Thinking your own thoughts and not His is “The way of a fool…” (Proverbs 12:15). “Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him” (Proverbs 26:12). God condemns “evil people, who refuse to hear His words, who stubbornly follow their own heart” (Jeremiah 13:10). In short, “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool” (Proverbs 28:26).
Pastor John MacArthur comments: “When Moses gave the law to the people of Israel, one of the chief principles he underscored for them was, ‘You shall not do according to all that we are doing here today, everyone doing whatever is right in his own eyes (Deuteronomy 12:8). The idea that everyone should get to define for himself what is right and true is a recipe for disorder and disaster. It is the very definition of moral anarchy.
This is the defining principle of our world today. It crosses all demographics. It is a spirit of divination that is causing the otherwise unexplained madness. INTENTIONAL men of God know that we are in latter days and all creation is groaning under the weight of sin. Take advantage of the opportunities before you and share the Truth with this lost and weary world.
Like Pontius Pilate who cynically asked Jesus, “What is truth?” in John 18:38, today’s society collectively answers that same question in the most skeptical yet arrogant way possible, namely, with the disastrous false notion that the only truth that ultimately matters is whatever seems right in your own eyes.
