Dave’s Monday Blast – July 22, 2024

Last week we began a conversation on our God being a PROVIDER; based on Psalm 23. This beautiful passage, penned by King David, demonstrates one of the reasons why David was referred to as “A man after God’s own heart”. We see in this Psalm a picture of the heart of David. His trust in the Lord was so profound that he was able to state: “The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want…”. You and I serve a God who abundantly provides for us everything we could ever need (the want referred to in the passage). Indeed, He anticipates our every need (Ephesians 3:20 & 21).

The attempted assasination of President Trump last weekend dramatically added to an already explosive environment in our nation. The questions are being asked: “What’s going to happen now?” Is there any hope for our nation? Is peace and some sense of security even possible anymore? Where is our God in the midst of this chaos? Men of INTENTION know that the answers to all these questions are found in the Good Shepherd. Without Him there is no hope, no peace, no security, and only chaos. I encourage you to take a few moments and meditate upon these Biblical truths (Psalm 37:25 – 26: Matthew 6:26; Philippians 4:19).

The author of the FIRST 15 devotional comments: “A large part of trusting God in the area of provision is aligning your desires with his. Trust that he will provide the absolute best life you can live. Whether he provides abundantly in the eyes of the world does not matter. He is a perfect, loving Father who has absolutely perfect plans for you. If you are truly seeking him and trusting him with all your heart, you will live the best life possible. He knows what you need. He knows the desires within you. Stop looking to the world for examples of what your life should look like and seek his will above all else. Look to loving him and being loved by him as the best thing in life and all else will fall into place.”

Where are you not experiencing the peace that comes from trusting His provision? Might it be in the chaos of our culture? Might it be in the violence surrounding our political scene? Might it be that you are seeking more than what is best for you? Are you looking to the world as your example of “the good life” rather than seeking to align your desires with His? Consider Hebrews 13:5: “Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you'”.

Place your trust in the Good Shepherd and you shall not want!
