Dave’s Monday Blast – January 19, 2026

The start of a new year does not have to mean pressure, performance, or trying harder. It can be an invitation to slow down and return to what matters most. I read an article recently by Trace Kennedy, a contributor of the First 15 devotional, and I enjoyed the simple reminder of how to better connect with our Lord through prayer, Scripture, worship, gratitude, forgiveness, and everyday obedience. My prayer is that this simple reset will renew your heart and faith as you grow deeper roots in His presence.

Here are 5 of 10 points of resolve to consider and practice:

1. Resolve to begin each day in God’s presence. We must show up every day before the noise of the day sets in. God invites us to abide in Him as life flows from relationship, not effort. We can practice this by sitting quietly and inviting Him to lead our day, no agenda required. (Psalm 46:10)

2. Resolve to anchor your faith with a daily devotional. Our hearts need daily reminders of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Starting each day grounded in TRUTH keeps us centered, no matter what we face. Begin each day with Him. Let consistency, not perfection, be your goal. (Romans 12:1 & 2) (This very devotional that I am reading each day is solid one)

3. Resolve to make prayer a daily habit. Prayer is the most-giving part of time with God because it draws us into relationship with Him. It is critical to set aside time each day to get into His presence. (Time – Place) (Philippians 4:6 & 7)

4. Resolve to practice God’s presence throughout the day. God desires more than a moment with us. He desires a personal, intimate relationship with us throughout the day; a prayer while working, driving, or waiting. (Psalm 27:8)

5. Resolve to worship God daily.  Worship reconnects us to what matters most. When we worship, we lift our eyes from our circumstances and fix them on God’s faithfulness. Playing some worship music or singing simple songs of praise help to reset our hearts. (Psalm 59:16)

Those are great reminders aren’t they! Next week we will unpack five more.
