Dave’s Monday Blast – February 24, 2025

Most of us would rather not wait or struggle to understand the Lord’s will. But INTENTIONAL men of God know that those “waiting times” or those “difficult days” are some of the tools that He uses to help us grow in our relationship with Him; they enable us to trust Him more and more. God is willing to direct us, the Holy Spirit resides within to guide and instruct, and of course the Lord Jesus is always present interceding on our behalf.

Over the next few weeks I want to unpack some Scriptures that when applied consistently help us to rightly discover God’s will and ways, and in the process we are more apt to wait patiently and confidently for His perfect plan to unfold. I am grateful for InTouch Ministries for providing a template for this discussion.

1. Clear the pathway to Him. We must remove any idolatry which fogs our thinking and divides our mind (1 John 1:9). We must also relinquish preconceived notions about what to do. Though we have many desires, God must bring us to a place of submissive listening so we can discern His path. Submissive listening means we can say, “Lord, You know best” , and actually mean it!

2. Exercise patience by refusing to rush ahead of God. “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yes, wait for the Lord” (Psalm 27:14). The stronger the desire, the more difficult it is to wait for God’s clear direction. But patience always brings its rewards. This Psalm was reimagined by Chris Tomlin several years ago and is worth a listen.

As we examine four more of Scriptural truths over the next two weeks we must remember that God’s will for His children is simple; His calling remains the same today as it was upon His ascension: Get the gospel out to as many people and places as possible. Finding the best pathway for that isn’t alway easy, and only possible as He leads, guides, and directs.
