Dave’s Monday Blast – December 27, 2021

Happy post Christmas 2021. I trust you had a blessed time with family and friends and this note finds you excited about what the Lord is going to do in 2022. I believe we would all agree…it will be unexpected. INTENTIONAL men of God will stay on mission regardless!

Of course Christmas is a celebration of life, specifically we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Have you noticed all the new babies at Auburn Grace? My goodness…our quiver is getting full. Each beautiful little face reminds me that nothing is more precious to our God than His children, and each child must be loved and protected. For nearly 50 years, pro-life advocates have longed for the day when the Supreme Court would overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that legalized abortion across the United States. Almost two decades after Roe, the high court further defined abortion-on-demand as federal law in Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Now, at long last, the court is considering a case that could see both of those bedrock cases overturned.

Oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization are at Scotus. At issue is a 2018 Mississippi law that would prohibit nearly all abortions after the 15th week of pregnancy.

15 Facts at 15 Weeks:  Published in Decision Magazine in the December 2021 issue. The pro-life Charlotte Lozier Institute has compiled a fact sheet showing the amazing development that babies in the womb have already experienced at just 15 weeks.

1. All of the major organs have formed
2. The heart pumps 26 quarts of blood per day
3. The heart has already beat approximately 15.8 million times
4. Each finger moves separately
5. The baby prefers sucking his left or right thumb
6. The baby responds to touch
7. The baby responds to taste
8. The brain creates neurons at a rate of 250,000 per minute
9. Brain connections formed at 15 weeks’ gestation last into adulthood
10. The baby can feel pain
11. Females have most of the eggs that they will ever produce
12. The baby has practiced breathing for over six weeks
13. Eye movements are easily seen in ultrasound recordings
14. If a doctor took an X-ray this week, the baby’s skeleton would be visible
15. Surgeons have successfully performed surgery on babies at 15 weeks’ gestation

As you closely examine the list above you can see why it is very possible that the high court could overturn Roe and Casey. When I read that list I was reminded of Psalm 139:13 & 14: We are “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made”. Reversing Roe and Casey won’t bring back the 62 million, and counting, lives lost to abortion; but moving forward, this could allow unborn children to be legally protected in the law. At the very least we can expect that Scotus will uphold the law that is already in place in Mississippi. Let us pray that the judges decide that life is to be valued above all else. Those in the know expect the court to issue its decision by the end of June.
