Dave’s Monday Blast – August 15, 2016
Ask any group of theologians what the most important chapter in the Bible is, and you’ll hear many great answers. But one that will rate high on any list is Romans 8. Pastor Ray Johnston says, “When you read Romans 8, you discover four reasons why Christianity is the only foundation for your life. You’re reading why a life based on Christ won’t fracture and crack, but will weather the storms of life.”
Over the next several weeks I want to share these four important truths we learn from Romans 8. My thanks to Pastor Ray for breaking these down in simple terms:
Truth #1: Because of Christ’s power and presence in my life—there is NO condemnation! Romans 8:1 says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Christ sets us free from the law of sin and death.
No one lives well when they’re wracked with guilt. No one lives well when they’re constantly looking back. No life, no marriage, no family, no community can thrive when the past is in control. But when we live a life with no condemnation, we’re freed from the past.
Life without condemnation is what makes Christianity so different from other faiths. It’s not about what we’ve done, it’s about being in Christ and being forgiven. We receive forgiveness and we’re set free.
We all have an INTENTIONAL, daily choice to make: Be dominated by guilt or liberated by grace. Because of Christ’s presence in our lives, we become saturated with God’s grace, which makes us more gracious people. Gracious people are better at home, at work, and in the community. It’s the best way to build your foundation as a Christ-Follower and Disciple-Maker. That’s good isn’t it!
Next Week:
Truth # 2: Because of Christ’s power and presence in my life–there are NO Limitations!
