Dave’s Monday Blast – August 12, 2019

For the past two weeks we have been discussing some principles or practices of a Seeking-God Lifestyle. The core practices that help us assess our obedience to Jesus’ command is in Matthew 6:33 to “Seek first the Kingdom of God.” That command is representative of the one thing that Jesus simply could not stop talking about…”The Kingdom of God.”

From last week:
1. Humility and Fasting: The essence of following Christ is to imitate Him in His humility. That humility allows us to pursue His presence (James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5).

2. Fervent and Frequent Prayer: Prayer is the real work of a Kingdom seeker. (Colossians 4:12&13). Consistent thrice daily opportunities must be pursued.

For this week:
3. Taking in the Word: Similar to the discipline of prayer which should be practiced two or three times a day is the discipline of taking in the Word of God. The Scriptures need to meditated upon, read, or heard two or more times per day (Deuteronomy 6:4 – 9; Joshua 1:8) so that we can know and do the will of God.

Bottom Line:
This could total about two hours per day, and includes weekly church services, corporate Bible studies, daily devotions, prayer meetings, mid-week services, Life Groups, etc;. INTENTIONAL men know that this must be cultivated; never neglected. The Word is a Christian’s food. Kingdom seekers actively pursue this food.

4. Repentance: The Lord loves and draws near to all who repent of their sins, because repentance delights God’s heart like little else. Luke tells us that there is extraordinary joy in heaven when sinners repent and turn to God (Luke 15:10). God yearns and deeply desires to show mercy and give blessing, but often He will only do so when He sees genuine repentance in people’s lives. Read Ezekiel 18:31 & 32.

Bottom Line:
Repent if you have not been seeking God fervently and wholeheartedly. Repent of any and every area of your life that has not been consistent with God’s will and put away anything in your life that is doubtful and that may be displeasing to God.
