Dave’s Monday Blast – April 24, 2023
As I read, study, and meditate upon the Word, I have discovered two very specific questions that I find most compelling; both concern our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The first is recorded in John 18:38 and involves His encounter with Pontius Pilate. Pilate is attempting to discover just who this Rabbi claims to be, and why He is considered a threat. Jesus responds to his identity inquiry with the simple declaration that He is Truth. Pilate responds with this question: What is truth? (The answer to this question is for another day). The second question is the subject of this missive. Why do you seek the living among the dead? (Luke 24:5)Matt Staver, President of Liberty Council comments: “Today, in 2023 America, looking at seemingly hopeless situations that plague our lives and the world around us, do you need to be reminded that the words of Jesus are trustworthy? His words are true, they are sure and do not lie. When Jesus says something, it WILL come to pass.” INTENTIONAL men of God respond with a resounding YES!
The angels knew this early on that Easter morning when they questioned the women who brought spices to anoint Jesus’ dead body. When the women arrived at the tomb, they found the stone had been rolled away and the body was gone. Suddenly, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel and asked the women, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen” (Luke 24:4 – 5).
The next word out of the angel’s mouth CHANGES EVERYTHING…both for the women who were frightened and perplexed by the empty tomb, and for us. The word is REMEMBER. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise? (Luke 24:7)
Upon hearing the angel’s admonition, the women did remember and the eyes of their hearts were opened. Staver comments:
Fear was replaced by faith.
Sorrow was replaced by joy.
Confusion was replaced by clarity
Death was replaced by life.
Wherever you find yourself today, remember the words of Jesus. They never fail. They prove true every time.
He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6).
He does love you (John 15:13).
He has overcome the world (John 16:33).
He will come again (Revelation 22:12).
That’s good isn’t it!
