Dave’s Monday Blast – January 30, 2023

For the last two weeks we have been examining the two primary worldviews that determine how we think, act, and perceive reality: Theism and Atheism. Simply stated, a Theistic worldview claims that all things begin and end with God. An Atheistic worldview denies the very existence of God. A Biblical Christian adheres to a Theistic worldview, and our lives are to reflect that reality. A Humanist adheres to an Atheist worldview which leads to a wrong or an incomplete view of God. A proper view of the one true God is the only way to be able to have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16), i.e. think His thoughts!

Last week we began unpacking four simple truths from Pastor Charles Stanley (there are many more) about the Creator God, beginning with exploring His greatness (Psalm 145:3 & 5).

New this Week:
2. The Lord is Infinite. (Romans 11:33) “Oh, the depth of the riches, both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!”  It is impossible for our finite minds to fully grasp the concept of infinity. But ponder this: God’s knowledge, wisdom, and understanding have no limit. There’s no error at all in anything He does, says or wills. You can trust Him when He guides or instructs you because He’s always right. And this limitless quality applies to all His attributes, such as faithfulness, love and power.

3. The Lord is Eternal. (1 Timothy 1:17) “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever.” God has no beginning, and He will have no end. I know this boggles the mind because we live in the realm of time and cannot comprehend eternity. But God is outside of time, which He created. It’s extraordinary to contemplate what this means for us: everyone who has eternal life in Christ will one day live with Him forever in a paradise without end.

4. The Lord is Immutable; He NEVER changes(Malachi 3:6) “For I, the Lord, do not change.” His attributes remain constant, His promises will never fail, and none of His plans can be thwarted. (Numbers 23:19) “God is not a man, that He would lie, nor a son of man, that He would change His mind; has He said, and will He not do it?” This attribute of God is wonderful  news for all humankind, not just for God’s children. His promises for our good are certain, bringing favor, blessing, strength, and eternal life. We learned recently from Pastor Phil that these blessings are referred to as God’s Common Grace.

Our mandate from the Lord at His ascension is clear: “Make disciples of all nations…’ (Matthew 28:19). A disciple is a follower. Our mandate is to show our Post-Christian, Atheistic, Humanistic culture that to be a follower of Christ is the only way to find peace in this world and the next. May the Lord continue to motivate us to be obedient to the mandate. When I think about how great and how utterly beyond the human mind God is, I am amazed that He would reach down to save me, and then love, guide, and protect me for the rest of my life here and that I am able to spend eternity with Him.
