Dave’s Monday Blast – March 15, 2021

In 2 Corinthians 5:20 the Apostle Paul declares that we are Ambassadors for Christ. God makes His appeal to humankind through us to be reconciled back to Him. Two weeks ago we used the Word to define the role of an Ambassador committed to bearing the Image of our Lord. Last week, we examined the first of four practical characteristics of these Image Bearers also from biblical accounts.

The first example came from 2 Kings 5:1-4 and a young Israeli girl who showed great faith in our Heavenly Father despite her difficult circumstances.

This week we discuss the second characteristic found in John 6:1-9. Ambassadors are prepared to share all they have to meet the needs of others.

Men of INTENTION are familiar with this account of the nameless, young boy who shared all he had to meet the needs of others. Verses 5 & 6 “Therefore Jesus, lifting up His eyes and seeing that a large crowd was coming to Him, said to Philip, ‘Where are we to buy bread, so that these may eat?’ This he was saying to test him, for He Himself knew what He was intending to do.” Don’t you just love that statement? “He Himself knew what He was intending to do.” Please DON’T EVER FORGET that God always knows what He is intending to do, and it always comes to pass exactly as He plans.

In our account Jesus intended to use the generosity of His Ambassador to meet the real needs of others. Verse 9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?” Indeed! Verse 10 “Jesus said, ‘Have the people sit down.’ Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.” Not only did God feed the five thousand men, but their families as well. This is so typical of our loving Father, providing in abundance as recorded in verse 13 and also Ephesians 3:20 & 21.

Verse 11 “Jesus took the loaves…” What was the result of this young Ambassador giving everything that he had to Jesus? Verse 14 “Therefore when the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, ‘This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

What can we learn from this young Ambassador?
1. Hold nothing back from Him
2. Remember that God always accomplishes what He intends.
