Leaving Your Mark! Men of INTENTION clearly understand that every moment of every day matters for eternity. We must use our moments and days as His Ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20). Scripture is filled with compelling accounts of individuals who left their enduring mark for the Kingdom of God. Ambassadors come in all shapes and sizes as we will see over the next few weeks.
But first…let us set the stage:
What do Ambassadors look like?
- Genesis 1:26 informs us that we are His image bearers.
- Ephesians 2:10 informs us that we are His workmanship; we were created in Christ Jesus for good works that He prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
- John 15:8 & 18 states that God is glorified when we bear much fruit; He actually chose us to go and bear fruit; and THAT fruit will remain.
- Proverbs 22:6 states that we are trained or bent a certain way by God at creation and throughout our lives we are to walk or live according to that bending.
- Luke 2:52 admonishes us to follow the example of Christ when He was a young man…which is to increase in wisdom and stature (standing before); this brings favor with God and man.
What do Ambassadors do? They fish!
- Jesus gives every one of us a purpose for living. He says “Follow Me = Obey Me” and I will make you “Fishers of Men.”
- People are more important than things. We are to Love People and Use Things, not Love Things and Use People. This is why Jesus said “Follow me, leave the nets” and turn your attention to people.
- Following Jesus brings joy to our lives and makes us good fishermen. (Luke 10:17).
Next week I want to unpack a story found in 2 Kings 5 about a young girl who demonstrated great faith in God in spite of her circumstances; she left quite a mark.
