Dave’s Monday Blast – October 12, 2020

As we get ever closer to November 3:  Don’t forget to VOTE! Be INTENTIONAL about voting a Biblical worldview that protects the sanctity of life, Biblical morality, the church of Jesus Christ and God’s chosen people. Apply that standard to every candidate and proposition and then you have done your part, while trusting the Lord with the results (Daniel 2:21).

Unbiblical morality dominates our world. A humanist worldview has normalized behaviors that clearly reject the truth found in the Word. In these perilous days, it is imperative that we look to the Word of God for truth. The unchanging and absolute truth can only be found in our God. Humanist opinions regarding God and His Word, neither change God nor His Word. As C.S. Lewis observed, denying the sunrise does not harm the sun.

Psalm 90 declares, “Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations” (v.1)“Dwelling place” translates the Hebrew for a “home and a refuge”. God has been for His people “in all generations” because “from everlasting to everlasting, you are God (v.2). He is always faithful. God cannot change or He would at times be less than God (Malachi 3:6). Nor can His Word change its truthfulness, for it reflects the One who revealed it (2 Timothy 3:16).

When we change our opinion about Truth, i.e. adopt a humanist worldview, we do not change the truth! Abraham Lincoln once employed a popular riddle to illustrate this point: “If  I should call a sheep’s tail a leg, how any legs would it have?” His audience answered, “Five.” Lincoln relied, “No, only four; for my calling the tail a leg would not make it so.

I am afraid that our culture today looks a great deal like the people who populated the city of Nineveh as described in the book of Jonah; they called evil good and good evil. The Prophet Isaiah stated it this way: “Woe unto those who call evil good and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” our days look just like their days (Isaiah 5:20).

Some Considerations:

  • Are you living by the court of human opinion or counsels of God?
  • Is your worldview composed of Biblical truth or crafted and influenced by human wisdom?
  • Are you using your influence as a child of God to encourage those with whom you interact to live by Biblical truth?
  • Are you experiencing the peace of God because you are believing in His Truth or are you allowing the lies of Satan to make you fearful?

Whatever it costs us to declare and defend God’s Word in this current climate, is a small price to pay for the privilege of partnering with the King whose Son died that we might live with Him forever (Luke 23:43).

Next week I want to unpack a passage from Titus as it relates to this discussion.
