Dave’s Monday Blast – September 21, 2020

Last week we began a discussion of how to thrive in challenging times! We were reminded from Joshua 1:9 that “The Lord God is with us wherever we go.” This truth allows:

1. Our churches to thrive.  As the church thrives, communities thrive, marriages heal and the lost are found.
2. When churches thrive their people thrive, they become freed from fear as they spend time in the presence of God. Thriving believers reflect the early church model found in Acts 2:45 – 47: their good deeds establish good will, and that translates into individuals entering into the Kingdom of God. Lastly, they exhibit a self-sacrificial lifestyle fueled by a passion from the very heart of God.

THE POWER OF GOD CONNECTIONS – New this Week

Isaiah: Rekindles Your Hope – “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord…” (Isaiah 6:1)

David: Renews Your Confidence – ” I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalm 34:4)

David: Restores Your Perspective  – “When I tried to understand all this, it was oppressive to me until I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny.” (Psalm 73:16 – 17)

Isaiah: Re-enlists Your Service – “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!'”(Isaiah 6:8)

Jehoshaphat: Releases Your Anxieties – “After this, the Moabites and Ammonites with some of the Meunites came to make war on Jehoshaphat… ‘O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.'” (2 Chronicles 20:1, 12)

Nehemiah: Restore Your Joy – “Nehemiah said, ‘Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.'” (Nehemiah 8:10)

Next week we will conclude this discussion of thriving in challenging times by examining why people thrive in churches that have leaders that are thriving and examine how leaders thrive.
