Dave’s Monday Blast – December 24, 2018
Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas. We talk a great deal at Auburn Grace about being Men of Intention. Another word for Intention is Purpose. We know God created us on purpose for a purpose. That purpose is to Make Disciples (Matthew 28); to be His Hands and Feet. Specific to the season…what is the purpose of Christmas?
The 1st purpose of Christmas is CELEBRATION! Luke 2:8-10 “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all people.”
Why do we celebrate?
a. Because God Loves Us! John 3:16
b. Because God is With Us! Hebrews 13:5
c. Because God is For Us! John 3:17
The 2nd purpose of Christmas is SALVATION! Luke 2:11. “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born for you; He is Christ the Lord!”
What does this salvation provide?
a. My Past is Forgiven! Matthew 1:21
b. My Future is Secure! Romans 6:23
The 3rd purpose of Christmas is TRANSFORMATION! Luke 2:12 “This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”
What does this transformation look like?
a. I am a New Creation! 2 Corinthians 5:17
Pastor and Author Max Lucado said, “At the first Christmas, God took a journey of a billion steps…to come to us, but He always leaves the last step to you.” It is at Christmas that we discover His purpose for Christmas is to provide salvation leading to transformation. It is to this truth that we celebrate! Rejoice my friends for you are a child of God!
