Dave’s Monday Blast – August 22, 2016

Last week we began a discussion on the powerful truths for effective Christian living found in Romans 8. When you read Romans 8 you discover that there are four reasons why Christianity is the only worthy foundation for a life well lived. A life filled with purpose and joy. You are reading why a life based upon Christ won’t fracture or crack. The truth is, when we place our faith in Christ we are able to weather the storms of life with confidence. Why? Because our God is in control! That simple statement changes our entire paradigm for living.

In review:

Truth # 1:  Because of Christ’s power and presence in my life, there is now no condemnation!

Romans 8:1 affirms God’s commitment to setting us free from our bondage to sin and its extended consequence…death. This life without condemnation is what makes Christianity so different from ALL other faiths.

Truth # 2:  Because of Christ’s power and presence in my life, there are no limitations! Look at Romans 8:11 and you’ll learn something amazing. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is living in you. God’s power to change the world resides within you. If He can raise someone from the dead, what can’t He do?

Pastor Ray Johnston asks, “If you could change one thing about yourself, and there were no limitations on what you could change, what would you choose? Your relationships? Your finances? Your family? Your career? Your weight? Maybe you’ve asked yourself this before, and tried to make a change, but here you are the same as ever. What are you missing? God’s power.”

God’s life-changing Spirit is ready, willing and able to create massive change in our lives. But we have to be connected to the source of that power to make that change happen. Taking time to be with God every day, tithing regularly (this acknowledges to whom it really belongs), and being involved in fellowship keeps you connected. When you put God first in your life, when you cut His power loose, there’s no limit to what He will do. Of course like many things…this is an INTENTIONAL choice.

Next week:

Truth # 3:  Because of Christ’s power and presence in my life, there is no intimidation! Intriguing . .
